Public Panels
Pre-validated SNP Panels
We offer pre-validated SNP panels for genotyping specific crops and livestock. We also are actively working with consortia to create new panels. We also offer these panels through our Certified Service Provider labs, our in-house genomic testing and in pooled runs through AgriPlex Connect.
We offer the Sorghum Panel for full-service PlexSeq genotyping to be used as a tool to conduct molecular breeding. The Sorghum panel which consists of 2,421 SNP, includes 2365 genomic screen markers, 26 traits associated markers and 30 Quality control/ varietal ID markers. We also offer the Sorghum panel to the public at a discounted price and expedited turnaround through the AgriPlex Connect program. To meet increasing market demands in the United States and globally, the quality of the seed along the supply chain should be guaranteed; assessment of genetic purity of parental inbred lines and resulting hybrids is an essential measure in maize hybrid breeding and consequently, high-quality grain. Quality seed of hybrid maize is marketed when genetically pure breeder seed, basic seed, and certified seeds are produced (Poets et al. 2020).
We are now offering the Temperate Maize panel for full-service PlexSeq genotyping, to be used as a tool to conduct molecular breeding. The Temperate Maize panel consists of 2490 SNPs, and development was led by Professor Shawn Kaeppler and his laboratory at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. The Temperate Maize panel is offered to the public at a discounted price and expedited turnaround through the AgriPlex Connect program (accepting samples on an ongoing basis).
We offer the IRRI RiCA Version 5 Panel for full-service, PlexSeq genotyping to be used as a tool to conduct molecular breeding and production quality control tests. The IRRI RiCA V5 Panel, which consists of 1076 SNPs, was developed in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). We also offer the IRRI RiCA V5 Panel to the public at a discounted price and expedited turnaround through the AgriPlex Connect program.
We offer the LSU80 QA/QC Rice PlexSeq SNP Panel for full-service, PlexSeq genotyping to be used as a tool to conduct quality assurance and production quality control tests. The LSU80, which consists of 80 SNPs, was derived from the LSU500 Panel - both of which were developed in collaboration with Louisiana State University's College of Agriculture. We also offer the LSU80 Panel to the public at a discounted price to the public and with expedited turnaround through the AgriPlex Connect community genotyping program.
Rice (Oryza Sativa) is the most important food crop for human nutrition and caloric intake, providing more than 20% of the calories consumed by humans worldwide. Rice is a key agricultural commodity, being the third most produced crop worldwide.
The Commercial Tomato SNP panel was developed as an extension and update of a Fresh Market Tomato (FMT) panel that was created as part of an initiative of the Solanaceae Coordinated Agricultural Project (SolCap). This FMT panel contained 384 SNPs. SolCap was established with the help of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to bridge the gap between breeding and genomics. The project has identified and validated 7,720 SNPs (Illumina’s Tomato Infinium array) through whole transcriptome sequencing of cultivated tomato varieties and two wild species, S. pimpinellifolium and the weedy S. lycopersicum var. cerasiforme (https://emea.illumina.com/library-prep-array-kit-selector/kits-and-arrays/thesolcap-tomato-consortium.html). High density SNP arrays are an excessive and expensive genotyping tool for many applications; therefore, two 384 subsets of SNPs were further selected from the 7K SNP array.
The advent of targeted, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology and the PlexSeq platform provides an efficient method for mid-density SNP genotyping. We introduce the 1327 SNP Soybean Community Panel, which is the combined effort with AgriPlex Genomics and the community soybean consortium to develop an informative, high-throughput, and cost-effective mid-density genotyping solution for applied molecular breeding programs and seed production Quality Assurance (QA).
We offer the Canola SNPro Panel for full-service, PlexSeq genotyping for Brassica napus to support Genomic Selection and other molecular breeding methods. The panel developed by NRGene includes 500 SNPs that were designated by filtering a Canola pan-genome of 12 de novo assemblies (https://nrgene.com/). We also offer the Canola SNPro panel to the public at a discounted price and expedited turnaround through the AgriPlex Connect program.
Parentage DNA testing allows for corroborating pedigree and the relationship between sires, dams, and offspring. SNP data in Parentage Testing is used in a process of elimination, where sires that cannot be the parents of a particular offspring are excluded, leaving the one (or few) remaining sires as the most likely parent for that offspring.
